Memory Book for Amadou Cisse On Its Way to Senegal

The Memory Book which had been circulating campus over the last month was mailed to Bates College this Saturday, where it will be taken by Czerny Brasuell, Director of Multicultural Affairs at Bates College, to Senegal and delivered to Amadou’s family.

The book is filled with words from all parts of the University: the Sibener group where Amadou worked, the International House where he lived, and the Muslim Student Association with whom he prayed. It is also filled with words of support from students who had never met Amadou, but who wanted to express their regret and condolences to his family.

The book was graciously translated into French by Dior Sarr, a Graduate Student in the Human Development program.  Comments were gathered by members of the International House’s Resident Council, members of the Muslim Students Association, members of the African Caribbean Student Association, and the Sibener Group.   Also included in the package was a printout of the comments from the Hyde Park Crime Watch blog.
