Blog Around Campus
I thought I would highlight a couple of the University Blogs that I frequent from time to time.
First is the Maroon’s News and Editorial Blogs. News isn’t updated that often but the Editorial Blog usually has something almost every day (although often its not University Related).
Another blog which I discovered recently is Hyde Park Crime Watch. There was a huge outpouring of comments after the murder of Amadou Cissee and I think whoever runs the blog handled everything really well, the site was a place to leave memories. Its updated pretty regularly.
A little gem I just discovered is this blog, done by the library. Its a collection of all our complaints! I’m trying to get CAPS and SG to implement similar complaint systems, which allow for us to post and respond on record and then allow people to comment on these responses.
Another campus blog I read is Becker-Posner, although this isn’t really campus related.
Post your favorite blogs below, I clearly am not adequately connected to the UChicago Blogosphere.

The University of Chicago magazine has a blog located here: http://uchiblogo.uchicago.edu/.
The Law School has a few blogs, I think, they’re all located here: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/blog.html.
Although not directly related to the U of C, there’s also Hyde Park Progress, a blog (and I quote) “devoted to promoting reasonable economic improvement in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood.”
It’s located here: http://hydeparkprogress.blogspot.com/.
Various departments around campus have blogs, for example, where I work, the Center for East European and Russian/Eurasian Studies has a blog here: http://ceeres.blogspot.com/ and while not updated very often, the Center for the Study of Languages has a blog here: http://lucian.uchicago.edu/blogs/csl/.
While not exactly a blog, one of my favorite RSS feeds is the one on http://experts.uchicago.edu/ which pulls together all the places that University of Chicago ‘experts’ have recently been quoted in the news.
And, last but not least is this list of Humanities divison blogs (http://lucian.uchicago.edu/blogs/) and the University of Chicago Press blog at http://pressblog.uchicago.edu/. I cheated a bit finding those (I don’t visit them regularly) but a search from the University homepage of the word blog comes up with a lot of hits.

I may have spoken too soon about the Maroon’s Editorial Blog not covering campus issues.
This piece:

Is them keeping tabs on former VP of Community Affairs, Hank Weber. That’s good reporting (or blogging really, because its not exactly objective in any way…)

I like the idea about posting a complaints blog. We can also register feedburner for an RSS feed.

Don’t want to burst your bubble, Scott, but it was me that posted about us…

The new complaints system, which uses the Forum, should be RSS able: https://cforum.uchicago.edu/rss.php?p=427
Complaints that warrant more attention should be moved to the blog.

Ah, sorry.. Kati beat me to it already by listing the link to the HD blogs. http://feeds.uchicago.edu is also a good place to look.

Dear,
Is there a directory of bloggers from Uchicago? Would be nice to read before I go there!
Many Thanks!

Not that I know of. There are some places to start listed here. The Livejournal community, linked to above, would probably be the best place to start for student blogs.
The news office also has some faculty blogs but I can’t seem to find the page (which is really odd).
