The University of Chicago

Chair of the Committee on Academics in the College (CAC)

We are seeking a Chair for the Committee on Academics in the College (CAC) for the 2016-2017 academic year. CAC is a body that serves as the primary channel for students to voice and organize concerns with curriculum and academic life at UChicago.

Among the areas the Committee will explore are academic advising, diversifying the Core, course offerings, and support for first-generation and low-income students. The Committee will collect and synthesize student feedback, develop relationships with administrators, research academic services at other colleges and universities, and publish reports on their findings. They will work with the Executive Slate and the College Council to improve academic life for students in the College.

The Chair will be responsible for guiding the work of the Committee on Academics in the College. Since CAC is only in its second year, this will require drive and self-motivation. An attention to detail is necessary, in addition to an interest in working with students, faculty, and administrators. The expected workload is five to ten hours per week.

To apply, prepare responses to the following two questions and submit them, along with a resume, by Sunday, July 3rd at 11:59 PM. Applications should be emailed to uofc.sg@gmail.com with the subject "CAC Chair application."
