Chair of the Committee on Recognized Student Organizations (CORSO)

We are seeking a Chair for the Committee on Recognized Student Organizations (CORSO) for the 2016-2017 academic year. CORSO is the longest operating committee to exist as a part of Student Government, having been founded in the early twentieth century. Per our By-Laws, its mission is to assess the resource needs of Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) in the University, facilitate communications between CLI and RSOs, provide quarterly development opportunities for RSOs, field RSO complaints, review complaints against RSOs, and mediate disputes between RSOs. CORSO also makes recommendations to CLI on the approval and revocation of RSO status.

Over the upcoming year, we're excited to center CORSO around its original mission. Some of the issues we plan to work with CORSO on include streamlining the RSO funding process and clarifying the funding code and guidelines, improving and expanding the SG Student Leadership Recognition and Access (SLRA) Program, and working to increase the connection between SG and RSOs so we can continuously work to address the needs of student organizations, especially graduate student organizations. Applicants for Chair of CORSO should have experience in an RSO, familiarity with the RSO funding and registration processes, and passion for improving the experience of students and student organizations. Expected workload will be 5-10 hours a week.
