It's On UChicago

Student Government is leading an anti-sexual violence campaign called It's On UChicago, inspired by the White House-sponsored It's On Us campaign. The campaign will focus on encouraging students to sign a pledge to (a) only engage in consensual sexual activities, (b) be an effective bystander in situations where they feel safe, and (c) support survivors of sexual assault. We will have half sheet print out versions of these pledges for students to sign from Monday through Friday 6th and 7th week from 11 am - 2 pm on Hutch Courtyard. Our rain location and Thursday and Friday of 7th week location will be the Reynolds Club marketplace.

Students who sign on will also have the opportunity to take a picture with a statement a message about the fight against sexual violence. They can start with "It's On Me to..." "It's On Us to...." or "It's On UChicago to..." in order to encourage the University to do more to support survivors of sexual violence and educate students of their Title IX rights. We will have educational materials and suggestions about how to fill in these statements at the table.

Photos will be uploaded to the Student Government Facebook page and can be found here. RSVP here

RSOs who wish to partner with Student Government on this campaign will be listed here on our website and on a poster during the two weeks while we table. RSOs are required to do the following to partner:

  1. Encourage members to sign the #ItsOnUChicago pledge.

  2. Forward an email RSO listhost that includes the campaign pledge and tabling schedule, the Sexual Assault Awareness Week (SAAW) calendar (May 17-22, 8th week), and links to Title IX rights and resources.

  3. Share information on social media pages (if any) that RSO is a partner in Student Government’s “It’s On UChicago” campaign.

For further information about partnering, please email, or contact Aseal Tineh at or Veronica Portillo Heap at

The Pledge

I pledge to:

  1. Always ask my partner(s) for consent before engaging in any sexual activity and only engaging in consensual sexual activities.

  2. Be an effective bystander in preventing others from acting without consent in ways that I feel safe.

  3. Believe and support all survivors of sexual violence.

I support the expansion of educational programs from the University of Chicago to teach students and all members of our community about their Title IX rights and resources. I will actively work to create a safe environment for people of all genders and identities.

I call upon the University of Chicago to support survivors.

As a member of the University of Chicago community, I, [NAME], am taking action in the fight against sexual violence today.*
